Higurashi Tsumihoroboshi Graphics Patch. Although mapping coordinates are universal and GPS satellites can be used anywhere in the world, it's often difficult to exchange information between different platforms. Garmin, TomTom and other GPS manufacturers each organize data in their own proprietary formats. This presents an obstacle for travelers or geocaching enthusiasts who want to share information with their friends. However, it is possible to convert a Garmin GPX file to TomTom's OV2 waypoint format or ITN itinerary format using third-party utilities.

Tips • check File conversion programs including Extra POI Editor and ITN converter offer the option of manually editing your GPX file before you change formats. You might find some features or functions are easier to use in the conversion programs than in TomTom Home itself. • check GPSBabel supports Ubuntu and other popular Linux versions, as well as Windows and Macintosh. Tech-savvy users can use GPSBabel to efficiently convert GPX files to ITN or OV2 format from the Windows or Linux command line, without using the menu-driven interface.

As a new user to GPS in general and TOMTOM in particular, I thought I would like to help out others in the same boat as me. This is a HOW TO for MYTOMTOM to install custom POI's and other content. I haven't seen one that deals explicitly with MyTOMTOM yet and it took me hours to figure out some weird quirks with custom content. First, I have a 2505TM. I am in Canada and it shows up as a 1005, which is a European model. I wrote to TOMTOM and they said they are the same unit and the first 2 letters of the serial #'s are the same so it can show up as either one and makes no difference.

I am using Google Earth to create a KML file and when I do a search for say AutoZone, it will bring up a list of the AutoZones in my area like it is. POI Editor for TomTom. Info Zipfiles. A handy application designed to help you create/manage various POI files, and interact with popular maps by intuition.

If I switch my location to the USA, it shows up as a 2505. Weird, but it either way it works. INSTALLING CUSTOM POI'S This took me forever to figure out on my own because there doesn't seem to be a guide anywhere. In order to install 3rd party POI's, you need a couple of things. First is a zip file called 'TOMTOM OV2 TOOLS.zip'.

Next you need to have the MYTOMTOM app installed on your PC. I assume you are capable of finding this file and installing the app. If not, there is plenty of help for those around. • Extract the TomTom tools into a folder. There are 2 files, DUMPPOV2.exe and MAKEPOV2.exe.• Download and unzip your custom POI file into this folder. You need to have a.OV2 file and it's nice to have a.BMP for a custom icon or else you end up with a generic asterisk, which doesn't help much if you have more than one custom set of POI's.• For some reason it seems you can't just send the.OV2 to the GPS. They don't work.

They will show up on your GPS with the custom icons alright, but 0 locations. I think the formatting must have changed between the older models using HOME and the newer ones using MYTOMTOM. So.• Drag the OV2 file and drop it on DUMPPOV2.exe. This appears to be a DOS file and this is the quickest way to convert the file. It will create a.ASC text file. If you want, you can view this in wordpad or something. It's not very exciting.• Delete your old OV2 file.

Drag and drop the ASC file onto MAKEPOV2.exe. This will make a new (working!) OV2 file.• Check to make sure the BMP file and the OV2 file have exactly the same file name except for the extension. This is important or you won't have a custom Icon. You will end up with a red circle in your POI list.• Make sure your GPS is connected to your PC and that the MYTOMTOM app is running in the system tray. Click on the icon. A little window should open near the icon.

Select the Add Community Content line. This opens up a browser window with a bunch of ADD buttons for POI, Voice, etc.• Click the ADD POI button.

Then select the BROWSE button and find your POI files. Select the BMP file and then click INSTALL. Wait for your GPS to finish receiving the file. Now click ADD POI again and select the matching OV2 file and click INSTALL.

*WARNING: You will get a red circle on your GPS POI menu if you don't upload an icon or if you load the icon in a different area than the ADD POI, such as the ADD IMAGE area. (Boy did that mess me up!). Carry Mariah. Also I hear bad things happen if you disconnect the cable in the middle of a transfer so be careful. ADDING SOUNDS, VOICES AND VEHICLE IMAGES OK, the good news here is that everything seems to work the way it is supposed to.
